Teach Starter’s vision is to inspire every child to build a purposeful and happy life through learning. We create amazing teaching resources that save teachers hours each week preparing for the classroom. Our US team has been busy planning and creating resources that will help US teachers get ready for back-to-school! So, we thought we’d introduce the hard workers behind the amazing ideas…
Meet Natalie
Natalie, or Nat as we call her, has 19 years of experience in the public school system and was the first member to join the Teach Starter US team back in December 2018. Before joining our team she was a teacher for 10 years, she then completed five years as an Instructional Coach (Grades PK-5), and finally four years as an Assistant Principal focusing on Curriculum and Instruction in a small school district right outside of Austin, Texas called Del Valle I.S.D.
Her experience shines through in the amazing printable resources she helps to create. Nat is a huge advocate for how Teach Starter can help save teachers time with high-quality, downloadable resources.
When teaching, Nat loved getting to interact with students on a daily basis, letting them know that someone cared and was in their corner no matter what.
“Building strong relationships with my students was my top priority each and every day. I knew if I did that, the learning would come.”
Even though she misses seeing the excitement on students’ faces when they learn something new, helping teachers and students is her passion and she loves that she is able to do that here at Teach Starter!
Meet Garrett
Garrett is another of our teachers working in the Teach Starter US office. Before starting with Teach Starter, Garrett was a 5th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. He also has experience teaching Preschool, Math, and Science at various grade levels.
His favorite part about being a teacher was making learning fun and interactive – which shines through in the resources he helps create for busy teachers! Engagement of his students was of utmost importance to him while teaching and he loved watching it happen while he taught.
One aspect he misses about being in the classroom is changing students’ mindset about school and learning.
“I had many students who had never enjoyed school, I even had a few who had never even turned in an assignment.”
Garrett highlights the importance of building a relationship with students and showing them how exciting learning can be as a way to help change their mindset.
Meet Alyssa
Alyssa is another creative mind that works in the US team as a graphic designer. She designs and creates illustrations for resources for our website. She has been designing for around eight years, but has been drawing since she was four years old!
Since starting at Teach Starter, Alyssa’s favorite resource she has helped create is the collection of printable resources for Black History Month.
“It’s fun getting to learn new things while working on a design!”
Hello Teach Starter. Thanks for all your hard work. Much appreciated. Happy Holidays!!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Olle! It is an absolute pleasure producing resources for all of you hardworking teachers out there! Enjoy your school holidays!
