Episode 91

The Period Talk

Recorded by | Run time: 29 min, 3 sec

Summary

Periods, like many things that are part of the human experience, aren’t always easy to teach about. But with girls as young as eight years old getting their first period, it’s definitely a priority to normalise the conversation. To help teachers and parents navigate the chat, Tasha Lawton created Period Talk: a fully comprehensive, curriculum aligned education program to teach Aussie boys and girls aged 9-13 about periods.

Join me as Tasha and I talk about the way her new program is changing the lives of students, and women in the wider community who are experiencing poverty through Period Talks’ pledge to Share the Dignity. I also caught up with Carol from The Sustainable Period Project to find out how teachers can educate young people about environmentally conscious choices for period care.
