A set of two 2D shape worksheets for students to record their observations whilst comparing properties of 2D shapes.
🟡 🟪 2D Shapes Worksheet – Comparing 2D Shapes🔺🔶
Using this set of two Maths worksheets, students learn to evaluate 2D shapes by comparing and contrasting the features of various shapes displayed. Students will indicare (colour or tick) which shapes feature which properties.
Use these worksheets after explicitly teaching the properties of 2D shapes and practising comparing and contrasting them with others. This worksheet is a fantastic tool for assessing students’ understanding of 2D shapes.
This download includes two worksheets (levelled), plus corresponding answer keys.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to individual student work time, use this worksheet as a:
- Maths rotation
- Maths warm-up
- End of the day wrap-ups
- Fast finisher activity
Students who are working above-grade level can explore the more complex shapes included in the second worksheet, such as oval, parallelogram, and rhombus.
Students who need extra support can focus on the first worksheet, which has the more basic 2D shapes. Students requiring scaffolding could complete this worksheet first before progressing to more complicated shapes with some similar features.
