Teach Informative Writing with High-Quality Information Report Examples

When teaching students about the purpose, structure and language features of a particular text type, strong model texts are paramount. Analysing age-appropriate, authentic examples sets students up for success when it comes time to write their own text, as they have a clear understanding of what high-quality writing looks like.

This resource pack includes three age-appropriate information reports written by our experienced team of teachers. The resource also features a two-page analysis worksheet to guide students through analysing the purpose, audience, content, text features and language features of the sample texts. Due to its generic nature, this worksheet could also be used with any sample information report.

The information report examples in this pack are:

  • Amazing Ants
  • Welcome to France
  • Fantastic Forces

This resource downloads as a full-colour or black-and-white printable PDF. The worksheets can also be downloaded as an editable Google Slides file.

By engaging with this resource, students will learn how information reports are crafted and how text and language features work together to achieve the text’s purpose.

Use This Report Example Pack for Repeated Exposure

This report example pack has been designed by our team to support you in teaching your students how to write a high-quality information report. Repeated exposure is essential, which is why we have included three different report examples in this pack.

Why not use one text for whole-class modelled instruction, one for pair or small-group work and one for independent practice? This allows for the gradual release of responsibility as students become more confident with the text analysis process.
