Practise Describing Things Using the Five Senses

It’s time to dive into the magical world where touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell reign supreme! This year, get your students excited about science with fun new printable 5 Senses activities from Teach Starter!

This year, we’re excited to help you teach your early years students to identify and use their five senses to describe the world around them. This printable resource download is the perfect tool to help your students practise identifying things around them that they can sense and using those senses to describe things around them.

Using Our 5 Senses Activity Pack

This download includes a set of five printable 5-senses activity sheets, one for each of the five senses. These worksheets are described below.

  • Using My Sense of Touch Worksheet: Students will look at a group of objects and use a word from the word bank that matches how each object would feel if touched.
  • Using My Sense of Taste Worksheet – Students will look at a group of objects, then use a word from the word bank that matches how each object would feel if tasted. (sour, sweet, salty, bitter)
  • Using My Sense of Hearing Worksheet – Students will look at a group of objects, and then colour the words that describe the sounds these items make. (Loud, soft, high, low)
  • Using My Sense of Smell Worksheet – Students will look at a group of objects and then colour the words that describe the smell of that object. (good, bad, fresh, rotten)
  • Using My Sense of Sight Worksheet – Students will look at a group of objects and colour the words that describe what they see.
