A 5 Star Writing Poster for Classroom Display

Do your budding writers sometimes forget to properly capitalise or punctuate their sentences and stories? Our 5 star writing poster and bookmark set can help! Hang the poster in your classroom and distribute the matching bookmarks to help remind your students what “star” writing looks like.

This resource includes:

  • 5 star writing poster (colour)
  • 5 star writing bookmarks (black and white)

We recommend printing both the 5 star writing poster and the bookmarks on cardboard and then laminating them for longevity. To spice up the bookmarks, let your students colour them first!

What is Five Star Writing?

Five Star Writing is a method of helping young learners remember five elements of good writing, including:

  • Capitalisation: Use a capital letter to start a sentence.
  • Punctuation: Use appropriate punctuation at the end of a sentence.
  • Spacing: Put finger spaces between words.
  • Neat Writing: Make your words neat and readable.
  • Makes Sense: Check that your writing is easy to understand.
