Make alliteration fun with a printable worksheet that challenges students to create flavours of ice cream.

Creating Tasty Alliteration Examples

Your students will be ‘screaming’ for more time to practise creating alliteration examples with this tasty task cooked up by the Teach Starter team!

Using this printable worksheet, students are tasked with creating four new flavours of ice cream. The trick? They must use alliterative names for each flavour in their cone, such as Spicy Spinach Surprise or Perfect Passionfruit Pecan.

Hold an alliterative brainstorm as a whole class, challenging your students to share words or phrases that start with the same sound as their favourite ice cream flavours. Write them out on your anchor chart paper for students to use as a reference, and then hand out the worksheet for students to fill out individually or in small groups!

Encourage your students to use descriptive adjectives and vocabulary to make their flavours unique and interesting.

Reflection Activity

After they’re done labelling each of the scoops in their ice cream cone with alliterative flavour names, bring students back together to share a few of the names they created with the class.

Reflect on the process and ask the students questions such as:

  • What did you enjoy about creating alliterative ice cream flavours?
  • What challenges did you face when trying to create alliterative ice cream flavours?
  • How does alliteration make language more interesting?
