A Maths Animated Flip Book Students Will “Flip” For

If you are on the hunt for a unique, engaging activity to help your students boost their counting and ordering numbers skills, look no further. Our ordering numbers animated flip book is fun to assemble and even more fun to flip through!

Instructions:

  • Print the two pages of the animated flip book on separate pieces of paper or cardboard.
  • Carefully cut apart the pages of the flip book.
  • Mix the cards up and spread them out in front of the student.
  • The student will look at the numbers in the upper right-hand corner and use them to put the cards in numerical order.
  • Students can hold the book in their left hand and flip the pages with their right to check their work—if they have ordered the pages correctly, the flower will grow!

Tips:

  • This animated flip book works best when the pages are carefully cut out to facilitate flipping, so we recommend an adult does the cutting.
  • The dot on the left is a marker for a hole punch. If you like, you can punch a hole in each card and connect them with a split pin to keep the cards together for easy flipping.
  • Consider printing this resource on cardboard or laminating it for longevity.

Using Mini Books for Foundation

Mini books have so many uses in the foundation classroom. Here are some ideas on how to utilise these versatile resources:

  • Put mini-books in your maths stations for students to cut out and/or assemble as they learn.
  • Use a mini book as an independent practise activity.
  • Send mini books home with students so they can read and practise skills with their families.
  • Utilise mini books in guided instruction to give students a fun way to practise a skill.
