Find The Area of a Parallelogram

Are you in need of an activity that your students can use to sharpen their area skills? This downloadable match-up activity will give your students plenty of practise with using the area of a parallelogram formula as well as calculating the space inside each parallelogram. Students will determine the area of different figures and match them with their corresponding areas. The included cards use whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.

This resource comes with the following:

  • a directions page
  • 36 cards (18 parallelogram figures and 18 cards with the area)
  • recording sheet
  • answer key.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your maths lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this match-up activity to enhance learning through guided maths groups or whole class lessons.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

For students who need additional support, provide them with a multiplication chart to help with basic facts. Additionally, you could limit the number of cards they are required to match or only use the whole number cards.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If students are looking for a challenge, encourage them to create parallelograms with different measurements but with the same area.

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students
