Back to School Project – Plan an Excursion

Students will plan an amazing excursion with this project-based resource. They will use their creativity, analytical skills, organisational strategies, critical thinking skills and imaginations to complete different tasks to develop their business. The project provides opportunities for students to:

  • Brainstorm ideas for an excursion.
  • Choose location for the excursion.
  • Plan a trip by choosing transportation and a lunch meal.
  • Find the total spending amount while remaining within a budget.
  • Complete a mock excursion letter.
  • Reflect on the excursion and process.

In this project students will be developing their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and learn to be curious and creative thinkers.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to individual student work time, use this STEM project to enhance learning through partner projects and whole-class discussions.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Assist students with learning challenges by participating in brainstorming and listing conversations with them.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage fast finishers to write persuasive or opinion letters on why the class should be allowed to attend their field trip.
