How to Use these Verb Posters in the Classroom
Increase your students’ strong verb vocabulary to bump up their writing. By displaying the following pack in the classroom or at writing stations – you are setting your students up for success when it comes to improving their writing. To begin with, it’s important to encourage students to look at displays or visual cues to help them with their writing. To do this, complete a few activities in the classroom using these visual cues:
- Get students to write down the main verb on the poster, ie. ran and then choose a stronger synonym such as rushed.
- Get students to pick a word they don’t really understand and have them look it up in the dictionary.
- Get students to write a list of all the words they don’t understand.
- Have students pick a word each day to put into a sentence.
