This set of 13 worksheets has been created for students to practice blending phonemes in simple 3-phoneme words. Pick worksheets that suit your students skill level with some words including digraphs, while others are simple CVC words.

The following worksheets are included in this worksheet pack:

  • Bend and Match Worksheets – Students blend words together and then match the images with the words.
  • Blend and Write Worksheets – Students blend the phonemes together, colour the correct picture and then write the word.
  • Answer sheets are also provided for easy self checking.

Ways to Use these Phoneme Blending Worksheets in the Classroom

There are many ways students can use these  worksheets in the classroom. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Small group instruction – use these worksheets for targeted instruction during small group work. Differentiate using the digraphs for more advanced students and the simpler CVC worksheets for those still mastering phoneme blending.
  2. Homework practice – send the worksheets home for additional practice.
  3. Whole class activity – Display a worksheet on the board and complete it together on the whiteboard – inviting students up to write on the whiteboard with the markers.
  4. Individual assessment – check for basic phoneme blending understanding using these worksheets.
