The Perfect First Day of School Activity for Video Game Classroom Themes!
The printable Minecraft character templates are the perfect first day of school activity if you’re highlighting a video game classroom theme. To create their character, students will use the About Me Glyph to create their colour code. They will then apply that code to their character and colour in the corresponding pixels with their chosen colours.
We’ve included multiple versions of the template: a boy, a girl, and a mine-me face template, especially for the little ones!
More Video Game / Minecraft-Inspired Classroom Theme Ideas
Don’t stop with just a single display board! With these video game classroom theme ideas, you can bring your video game theme into every corner of your room.
- Block Walls – Cover boards or sections of your walls with pixelated pixel-style blocks, using coloured paper or printouts for dirt, grass, stone, and wood textures.
- Nether Portal Entrance—Use black paper and purple string lights or reflective cellophane to frame your classroom door with a glowing purple and black “Nether Portal” design. Add a sign above it that says, “Enter the World of Learning!”
- Classroom Rules: Mine Style – Display classroom expectations as “Game Rules.” Use a sign that says “Survival Mode Rules” and include guidelines like “Respect Your Team,” “Keep Your Tools Organised,” and “Build a Safe Zone.”
- Pixel Art Gallery – Dedicate a wall or bulletin board to “Pixel Art.” Let students create their own pixel-style art using graph paper, then display their creations in a gallery format.
- Diamond Desk Incentives – Set up a rewards system using paper cutouts of diamonds, emeralds, and gold. Students can earn these for good behaviour or completed work and “trade” them for small prizes.
