Identify proper school and classroom procedures with this sorting activity.
School and Classroom Procedures Sorting Activity
Are you looking for a back-to-school activity that helps your students learn procedures? This sorting activity will help your students sort their way through acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in different school locations.
To play, students will place the school location sorting mats in a row and the DO & DON’T card for each location. Students will choose a scenario card, identify the school location, and read the scenario. They will determine if it is a DO or DON’T for that location and sort accordingly.
Through this activity, students will practice identifying different school procedures.
Classroom Expectations Made Easy!
A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your back-to-school lessons.
In addition to individual student work time, use this sorting activity to enhance learning through small groups or whole class lessons.
If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:
🆘 Support Struggling Students
Help students who need support by inviting them to refer to an anchor chart or classroom poster.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
For students that need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to think of an additional “Do” and “Don’t” for each location.
🛴 True or False Scoot
For this game, you will need to print a set of cards you can number to match the students’ answer sheets with the cards. Hang cards around the room in groups of matching and unmatching sets. Working alone or in pairs, assign students to a starting point and have them rotate through the cards on your signal, recording on a numbered sheet of paper whether the sets are a match (True) or a mismatch (False) until they have completed each one.
