Review classroom and school procedures as a back-to-school activity with a game of Scoot!

Do You Need Some Back to School Activities? Let Us Help!

Are you looking for an activity to review your classroom procedures and expectations? This activity will keep your students moving while reviewing vital information to start the year right! This resource includes 20 cards with different questions, such as:

  • What should you do if you are done with your work?
  • What should you do if you need a pencil?
  • Where are the classroom rules located?

To play, place the cards around the room. Assign students to a starting card and provide an allotted amount of time for students to read the question. Students will write the answer for each question on the recording sheet in the matching numbered box. Use a signal or call out, “Scoot!” to motion students to rotate. Students will move in numerical order. Play continues until students return to their first card.

This activity will show students they understand classroom and school procedures/expectations.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your back-to-school lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this set of procedure task cards to enhance learning through small groups or whole class lessons.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need support by inviting them to reference posters or anchor charts for various routines and procedures.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If students need a bit of a challenge, invite them to draw a poster or infographic demonstrating how to follow particular rules or expectations.

👋 Exit Ticket

Use these cards as a formative assessment after your lesson. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can record their answers on a paper, sticky note, or notebook.
