Tired of Your Old Compound Word Lesson Plans?

So you’ve got your students practising their skills with compound words, but you want to keep them from being bored? It’s time to get them up, moving, and learning about compound words with engaging printable resources from Teach Starter. This year, we invite you to try something different with your compound word lesson plans and give your students more novelty and variety in their daily practise activities.

Printable Compound Word Task Cards for Year 2

These task cards are just what you need! Get your students up and moving with this set of compound word task cards. If your students need to work on combining words and spelling them correctly, this resource is the perfect way to get them up to speed.

To use, place the cards in a reading centre or around the room. Students will identify the two images on each card, combine them to form a compound word and record their answers on their recording sheet. This can be a SCOOT! Game-based movement activity or an effective independent learning centre.

Through this activity, students will enhance their abilities to form and use compound words when speaking and writing.
