Play a Game of Compound Word ‘Go Fish’
Get ready to team up your students and encourage friendly competition in your classroom with a game or two of Compound Word Go Fish! This fun twist on the classic card game tests your students’ smarts and engages them in building and reading compound words. How do you play? Here are a few tips!
Instructions
- Shuffle and pass out five cards to each player. The remaining cards go in the centre of the play area.
- Players take turns asking each other for a card that matches their word to make a compound word.
- If the player has the card, they will hand it over. The player’s turn continues as long as they receive the card.
- If the player does not have the card, they say, “Go fish!”. The player who asked picks a card from the centre play area.
- Play continues until all compound word pairs have been collected.
