What is a Constructed Response?

A constructed response is a type of open-ended question that requires students to formulate their own answers instead of choosing from the provided options. Unlike multiple-choice or true/false questions, which have predetermined answers, constructed responses require students to come up with responses using their own words. This type of question is intended to evaluate a deeper understanding of the material and often involves higher-order thinking skills like analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
