Learn to locate and identify the continents and oceans on Earth with a game of SCOOT!

Improve Geography Skills with Scoot!

Are you looking for a fun way to explore continents and oceans with your students? This simple game will allow your students to identify continents by shape and locate the world’s oceans on a map.

To play, place the cards around the room in numerical order. Students look at the image or map on each card and write the continent or ocean it shows on their recording sheet. Then use a signal to motion students to rotate to the next card.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your Geography lessons.

In addition to partner work time, use this map skills game to enhance learning through a small group lesson or as a fast finisher activity.

If you have a mixture of above- and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need support understanding the concepts by providing an anchor chart or reference sheet about the five oceans and seven continents.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to research the different continents and make posters or fact sheets to share with the class.
