Master Contractions with Our Interactive PowerPoint

This set of teaching slides has been created by a teacher as a comprehensive and engaging tool to help students master contractions. This downloadable PowerPoint presentation is perfect for classroom instruction, making learning contractions interactive and fun.

Here’s why this set of teaching slides are an essential addition to your teaching toolkit:

  • Interactive Slides: Each slide is designed to engage students with colourful graphics, animations, and interactive elements that make learning contractions enjoyable.
  • Clear Explanations: The PowerPoint provides clear and concise explanations of what contractions are, how they are formed, and why they are used in writing.
  • Examples and Practise: With numerous examples and practise exercises, students can see contractions in context and apply their knowledge immediately.

Note: This teaching presentation contains animations and is best viewed in Slide Show mode.

Contraction Activities to Match

Simply get a set of flashcards with the contractions you want your students to practise. Then, pick one of these fun activities:

Flashcard Relay Race – Quickly match contractions with their expanded forms in a relay format.

  • How to Play:
    • Divide students into two or more teams.
    • Place a set of contraction cards at one end of the room and a set of expanded form cards at the other end.
    • Teams line up and, on the signal, the first student in each team runs to the contraction cards, picks one, runs to the expanded form cards, and finds the matching card.
    • The student then runs back to tag the next teammate. The first team to correctly match all their cards wins.

Memory Match – Enhance memory and recognition of contractions and their expanded forms.

  • How to Play:
    • Shuffle the cards and lay them face down in a grid.
    • Students take turns flipping two cards, trying to find a matching pair of a contraction and its expanded form.
    • If a match is found, the student keeps the pair and takes another turn. If not, the cards are turned back over.
    • The student with the most pairs at the end wins.
