Print a year 6 maths worksheet about converting a percent to a decimal or a fraction.
Convert a Percent to a Decimal or a Fraction
Do your year 6 students need additional practice writing percentages as decimals or fractions? This critical maths skill is typically introduced in Year 6 and has many real-world applications. We use percents, decimals, and fractions when calculating discounts, interest of bank accounts and loans and much more. Teach Starter has created a worksheet that your students can use to sharpen their skills of writing a percent as a decimal or a fraction.
Students will answer 10 questions asking them to convert a percentage to a decimal and then a percentage to a fraction. There are two word problems that put this skill into practice.
An answer page is included with your download to make marking fast and easy!
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:
- Guided maths groups
- Lesson warm-up
- Lesson wrap-up
- Fast finishers
- Homework assignment
- Whole-class review (via smartboard)
If there are students who are early finishers, encourage them to create a list of when percentages are used in their daily lives.
For students who need additional support, encourage them to reference a poster or anchor chart to help convert from fraction to decimal to percent.
