Counting 1 to 12 – Alien Eye Counting Game
This resource has been designed to be used in the early years classroom to help students identify numbers and count collections to 12. Students should be placed into pairs and provided with a set of alien templates, alien eyes and number cards.
Students pick a number card and then place the matching number of eyes onto their alien. The student with the alien with the most eyes wins!

Counting Activities for Kindergarten
Looking for some more counting activities for kindergarten? Check out these super easy activities using everyday items:
- Purchase some buttons or use similar items. have children count them by size, colour, or shape. You can also have them group buttons into sets and write down their total
- Use your play area set up to count objects. For example, if you have a fruit and vege shop set up in your classroom. Have children count each item, sort them by type and practice matching numbers to quantities
- Use building bricks to build towers or structures and then count how many blocks make up a structure.
- Go outside and collect leaves, rocks, or flowers off the ground and ask children to count the items as they collect them.
