A set of 24 CVC word shape task cards.
This set of task cards are perfect for students to consolidate their knowledge of CVC words. It’s also a great handwriting activity to incorporate into your literacy rotation activities. This activity encourages students to think about the different shapes of CVC words (head, body and tail letters).
These boxes should be changed to elkonin boxes. These word shapes are no longer considered best practice.
Thanks so much for your comment, Diane. After speaking to Holly and the team, we totally agree that Elkonin boxes are best practice when it comes to grapheme segmentation in words. In many of our most recent reading resources we have used sound boxes or Elkonin boxes. In this instance, the resource has been created with a focus on handwriting and letter shapes to help students think about the different head, body, and tail letters in these basic CVC words.
