Printable Number Pattern Worksheets

This set of three worksheets has year 3 students fill in the blank numbers to complete number patterns, complete in/out tables, and read a number pattern word problem.

The versions are broken down as follows:

  • Circle Version
    • counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s
    • in/out tables with +4 and -3 rules
  • Triangle Verison
    • counting by 2’s, 3’s and 10’s
    • in/out tables with +30 and -15 rules
  • Square Version
    • off-multiple patterns +5, +10 and -3
    • in/out tables with +11 and -6 rules

Each worksheet also includes a bonus question where students need to interpret the word problem and fill out a table to reach the final answer.

An answer key is included with your download to make marking fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to individual student work time, use this worksheet as a:

  • guided maths groups
  • lesson exit ticket
  • fast finisher activity
  • homework assignment
  • whole-class review (via smartboard).

Have more capable students complete the square version of this resource and ask them to create a word problem for one of the patterns used in the other questions of the worksheet.

Students who need extra support can complete the circle version of this worksheet. As the numbers on this worksheet are all less than 100, provide them with a hundreds board or even use our Interactive Hundreds Chart widget as a way to display the worksheet’s number patterns in a visual way.

Easily Download & Print

There seems to be errors in these sheets. Worksheet for the Square, Q3 it reads 982 when should be 962 (I believe). Also seems to be errors on this page for the in/out table: rule +11, -6.
