A Fun Early Learning Maths Activity

This early learning maths activity is a fun way for students to practise comparing and ordering numbers. Multiple mats and number sets are provided, making differentiation easy!

This early learning maths resource includes:

  • A 4-card ordering numbers mat
  • A 6-card ordering numbers mat
  • Number representation cards for all numbers 0 – 20
  • 72 number representation cards between 21 – 120
  • Student directions

This ordering numbers activity works well in a maths station or guided group and also shines as a partner activity after direct instruction.

“Order the Numbers” Foundation and Year 1 Activities

Have your students completed this early learning maths activity and are hungry for more? Here are some “order the numbers” activities you can try in your classroom!

  • Number Magnets: Locate a set of refrigerator number magnets (or make your own!) and mix them up. Students can put them in order on a baking sheet.
  • Dot-to-Dots: Let your students complete various dot-to-dot worksheets to reinforce number order. We have a great set linked below!
  • Number Pass: Students stand in a circle. The first student calls out a number and gently throws a ball to another student. That student must say the next number in the sequence and then pass the ball to another student who will do the same.
