A Set of Year 6 Editing Passages

A writer’s work is never done! (At least not until the editing process has been completed, that is!)

Teach your students the value of editing with this collection of 20 short passages, tailored specifically for Year 6 learners. Each passage features familiar, age-appropriate topics and has been purposefully written at a lexile level suitable for Year 6. This ensures students can concentrate on honing their editing skills without the challenge of deciphering overly complex texts.

The language skills addressed in this set of editing passages include:

  • Capitalisation
  • End punctuation
  • Quotation marks
  • Commas
  • Apostrophes of contraction and possession
  • Spelling

Year 6 Editing Passages: What to Expect

Each slide contains a short passage, an image and a set of instructions. The instructions inform students of the mistakes they need to find and fix within the passage.

Following each slide is an answer slide where all of the required changes are highlighted in a different colour from the rest of the text.
