A Set of Year 4 Editing Worksheets
Editing is a valuable skill for our students to learn. It teaches them to look at texts with a critical eye, a skill that can be transferred to their own writing.
These Year 4 editing worksheets have been designed to give your students practice identifying and fixing errors in simple sentences. Each worksheet contains two separate activities:
- Students read the sentences, then rewrite them correctly on the line provided.
- Students identify whether the sentences provided are correct or need fixing. If they need fixing, students update the sentences accordingly.
This set of Year 4 editing worksheets cover the following concepts:
- Confused words
- Sentence fragments and run-ons
- Capitalisation
- Punctuation
- Order of adjectives
These editing sentences worksheets for Year 4 download as an easy-print PDF or an editable Google Slides file. Answers are included in both file options.
Multiple Uses for These Year 4 Editing Worksheets
These editing worksheets can be used in multiple ways in your grammar lessons. Here are a few ideas from our teacher team:
- Whole-Class Warm-Up – Choose a worksheet to project onto your interactive whiteboard as a whole-class lesson warm-up at the beginning of your grammar lesson. This allows for editing skills to be reinforced on a daily basis.
- Show Me! Game – Provide students with mini whiteboards and markers. Choose a worksheet to project onto your interactive whiteboard, then have the students correct the sentences, one at a time, by writing them correctly on their whiteboards.
- Homework Task – Assign worksheets as homework for individual practice, then review the sentences as a class the next day. This allows students to independently apply editing skills outside of the classroom.
