Investigate Why Volcanoes Erupt, and Write an Informative Text!

Informative texts describe how and why something works or how and why an event occurs. This informative prompt guides students through researching, planning, and writing an informative text called “Why Do Volcanoes Erupt?” Use this informative writing template as a scaffolded writing activity when teaching your students about informative writing and natural disasters!

To complete the task, the students will need to:

research the topic
record dot-point notes on the template provided
write up their text in complete sentences on the scaffold provided.

A diagram of how a volcano erupts has been included to help students better understand the process and to stimulate some initial ideas for their writing.
