Fact Family Hands-On Maths Game!
Reinforce your students’ understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction in a tangible way using this hands-on activity! Explore part-part whole as a concept using fun fact families!
To prepare this resource for your next small-group maths activity, print the mats and cards on cardboard (or paper and then laminate for durability). Cut apart the separate cards.
To play, students choose a number sentence card and build it on the number bond mat using manipulatives. Students then record answers or representations on the provided recording sheet.

Print on cardboard for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.
To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks, punch a hole in the corner of each to place them on a binder ring.
Sustainability Tip: Print a few recording sheets on cardboard and slip them into write-and-wipe sleeves. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
