🚀 Launch into Learning About Fact Families! 🚀

Teaching about Fact Families and the relationship between addition and subtraction number facts? Use the colourful and engaging Fact Family Rocket Blast-Off to consolidate your students’ understanding of inverse relationships, number facts to 20, and addition and subtraction strategies.

To play Fact Family Rocket Blast-Off, students are given one of the facts included in 3 fact families. First, they must write the remaining facts for each family on the remaining blank cards. Then, they will cut out the facts and glue them on the appropriate rocket ship.

16 cards and a rocket game mat are included in this resource to solidify an understanding of addition and subtraction fact families.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by using the version with the number facts already written on the cards and supporting them to rearrange and match existing equations.

Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, as well as posters and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

This resource contains two versions for student differentiation and extension. If your students are working above level, extend them by moving them on to the Level 2 version.

👯 Find Your Match

Provide each student in your class with either an addition fact card or a subtraction fact card.
