Sorting Out the 5 Senses for Kids

Children can learn a lot about their bodies and the world around them by exploring their five senses. These senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. When children participate in activities involving each of these senses, they can learn more about themselves and the world around them. This year, we’re excited to help you prepare for those hands-on science lessons with brand-new printable activities for teaching the 5 senses to preschoolers and kindy kids!

This printable 5 senses sorting station is full of colourful pictures representing different sensory experiences, like seeing a rainbow, feeling sandpaper, tasting fruits, smelling freshly baked biscuits, and hearing the sound of birds.

Each picture is designed to help kids determine the senses they use to experience things around them. This activity has students sort the pictures into sight, touch, taste, smell, and hearing categories. Your resource download includes the following

  • 5 Sorting Mats – Taste, touch, smell, hearing, sight
  • 30 picture cards
  • Answer Key
