Use this worksheet to record answers to questions when interviewing a grandparent.
✍🏼 Interviewing a Grandparent?
Grandparents Day is a special day where children can connect with their grandparents or other influential people in their lives. As you begin planning your Grandparents Day activities, you may wonder what you can do to engage students and grandparents alike. Teach Starter has a simple activity you can do that will have everyone engaged!
Our Grandparents Day Interview template is a great way for young students to ask questions to get a glimpse at what life was like for their grandparents or special family member. Students will be prompted to ask questions such as
- What games did you play when you were my age?
- How did you get to school?
- What sports or activities did you enjoy when you were my age?
With this activity, grandparents will enjoy sharing their favourite memories, and students will get to learn more about someone they love!
Choose to incorporate this worksheet with in-person activities or send home with your students to complete at home.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
For students who may need a bit of a challenge, have them create additional questions to ask their grandparents. Students can record the answers on the back of the worksheet.
If there are students who may need a bit of support, consider assigning an audio-based interview assignment. With this, students will ask the same questions but capture the answers through an audio recording rather than writing all the answers on the worksheet.
