This fun guide words worksheet is the perfect resource to add to your dictionary skills lesson planning. The gumball-theme makes it a fun and engaging resource that is designed to help your students to practise their skills in using guide words in a dictionary.

In this worksheet, students will use the colour code next to the gumball machine and colour in the gumballs based on where they will fall within the provided guide words. This is a great resource to reinforce the concept of guide words.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

What Are Guide Words?

Guide words are the words that appear at the top of a dictionary page to indicate the first and last words listed on that page. They are helpful for quickly finding a specific word in the dictionary without having to scan through the entire page.
