Teaching Grammar Can Be Scary! We Can Help!

Spooky season is here again, and it’s time to dig into some sweet treats and a whole heap of grammar review. Getting in all those grammar lessons while keeping your students engaged can be challenging, but it can be done when you (pumpkin) spice things up a little!

Halloween is that time of the year when everything grim and spooky instantly catches children’s attention. Just the thought of trick-or-treating, monsters, and Halloween mayhem gets them excited to learn. That’s where we come in!

Cut and Paste the Spooky Abbreviations Worksheet

In this abbreviations activity, students will read a series of names, titles, etc. and determine the appropriate abbreviation that would be used to replace the underlined word in a sentence. They will then paste the abbreviations in the correct location. We’ve included the following common abbreviations.

Sr Dr Mr Ms Oct
Blvd Jr Hwy Rd St

Through this activity, students will develop their skills in reading, writing, and using abbreviations.
