Bringing Everyone Together – Quilt Template Activity for Harmony Day

This mosaic tile activity is the perfect way to celebrate diversity in your classroom and come together as one classroom community. The theme for Harmony Day each year is Everybody Belongs – embrace this theme with this beautiful quilting activity.

This classroom paper quilt can then be displayed in the classroom or even the school admin area to celebrate Harmony Day.

Using Your Classroom Harmony Day Quilt Template

To create a collaborative classroom quilt, your students will complete the following.

  1. Complete the prompts inside the quilt square; they can draw or write their answers.
  2. Draw a picture of themselves in the centre.
  3. Colour the quilt square using their favourite colours.
  4. Cut out and tape or glue the quilt squares together to form a quilt.

To assemble the quilt, you can try any of these options:

  1. Once the quilt squares are complete, flip them over and tape them together in a grid formation.
  2. Staple quilt squares into a grid formation on a classroom display.
  3. Add pieces of tape to the corners of each square, then tape them into a grid formation on the wall.
  4. Get a large sheet of butcher’s paper. Glue the completed quilt squares onto the butcher’s paper in a grid formation.
