Estimate activities that take about a second, minute, hour, and week with a printable units of time sorting activity.
About How Long Does it Take? Second, Minute & Hour
Are you struggling to teach your students the concept of time? Do they need help understanding what you mean when you tell them recess is in a minute, an hour, or two hours? If so, you’re in the right place!
The Teach Starter team has been hard at work creating resources to make learning about duration and estimation a breeze. Engage your students in fun and interactive activities to help them understand more about time and how long to estimate the duration of it.
Estimate the Time It Takes To Complete an Activity
Time-keeping has never been this exciting as students work to estimate the duration of different activities and categorise those activities based on how long they take to complete.
In this hands-on maths activity, students will sort 24 illustrated activity cards into the following categories:
- Activities that Take About a Second to Complete
- Activities that Take About a Minute to Complete
- Activities that Take About 5 Minutes to Complete
- Activities that Take About an Hour to Complete
- Activities that Take About a Half-Hour to Complete
- Activities that Take About a Week to Complete
This Duration of Time Activity builds students’ estimation skills and fosters a sense of time awareness, a skill essential for success in both academic and everyday life.
