Practising multiplication doesn't have to be a bore! Use our 'reveal a mystery picture' activity with your students to liven up your classroom lessons.

This teaching resource requires students to complete multiplication problems and colour in number squares on a hundred chart to reveal a mystery picture. This activity is great to use as a fast finisher activity.

The download includes a hundred chart numbered 1 – 100 and another chart without numbers, allowing you to differentiate the level of challenge as needed. The 32 educational task cards contain simple instructions, and the solutions are also provided in the download.

You may like to:

  • print and laminate the task cards to use again and again
  • photocopy the hundreds board into a 32-page booklet for students to keep track of the task cards they have already completed.

Are you sure these are suitable for grade 1-3? I just looked at the multiplication questions and my high flyers would struggle and we're in 3/4!

Hi there Lucy, thank you for you comment. I take your point... I think Years 1 and 2 students would definitely find many of these multiplication questions too challenging. I will alter the grade allocation of the resource in light of this. I'm thinking that perhaps Years 3 and 4 students could draw on some alternate strategies, such as repeated addition or partitioning according to place value, to complete some of the harder multiplication sums. Thank you again for your feedback, it is much appreciated! Have a wonderful day.
