I Have, Who Has Game – Numbers 1–20
Practise counting to 20 with this whole class game!
To play, shuffle the deck and hand one card to each student. Students will count the objects on their cards silently. The “I have the first card” student will go first. The student with the matching number of objects will read their card next. Play will continue until all cards have been read.
Through this activity, students will show they can use one-to-one correspondence skills to recognise a number up to 20.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your maths lessons.
If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:
🆘 Support Struggling Students
Help students who need help understanding the concepts by using the fishbowl method before playing. Gather a small group of students together in the centre of the room. Have the group model how to play the game before the whole class joins in.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to create an addition or subtraction equation to equal the number on their card.
