A Forest-Themed Improper Fraction Escape Room  

Looking for a fun way to review fraction conversions for amounts greater than one? Our improper fraction escape room will be a hit with your students! “Fraction Forest” challenges students to find their way through a forest by solving five clues.

This escape room addresses the following skills:

  • Changing improper fractions to mixed numbers
  • Changing mixed numbers to improper fractions
  • Drawing models of improper fractions
  • Drawing models of mixed numbers
  • Comparing mixed numbers and improper fractions
  • Matching improper fractions and mixed numbers to models

This improper fraction escape room can be played independently, in pairs, in guided groups, or even with the entire class!

 

Playing This Improper Fractions Escape Room 

Our escape rooms are easy to implement as we have provided you with both the game and a matching student workbook. Here’s how to play this improper fraction escape room:

  1. Display the improper fractions escape room to all students who will be playing.
  2. Give each student a copy of the student workbook (without the answers).
  3. Put the escape room in “presentation” or “slideshow” mode.
  4. Students will work through the slideshow, checking their answers with you or with an answer key when they finish each step.
  5. When it has been confirmed that they are correct, they may press the “next” button and go to the next challenge.
  6. Once students have completed all 5 challenges, ask them to show you their final code.
  7. If the code is 3243, they have won and may go to the last slide!
