Is or Are? Was or Were? Learn Which Is Which! 

This is the perfect resource to enhance your reading and writing instruction in the classroom or digital learning environment. This activity provides students with the opportunity to practise subject-verb agreement via a drag and drop interface. This interactive activity focuses on the verb ‘to be’ in the form of ‘is’, ‘are’, ‘was’ and ‘were’.

To complete the activity, students will need to open the Google Slides activity (also available in Microsoft PowerPoint) in Edit mode, not Presentation mode. Each slide has students interacting with moveable and clickable pieces to determine the appropriate verb needed to maintain the subject-verb agreement.

Have students demonstrate their knowledge of subject-verb agreement by writing sentences or stories of their own using the verb ‘to be’ in various tenses.

🧑‍🏫 Group Learning

Project the slides onto a screen and work through them as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks or mini whiteboards.
