Sort Out Letter Confusion with These Letter Confusion Worksheets

Have you got students that often get their b’s and d’s confused or their p’s and q’s. It’s often a normal developmental process that they’ll need to work through and these letter confusion worksheets are a great way to focus on particular letters that students are often getting confused. This set of 10 letter confusion worksheets are a great way for students to practise identifying and visually telling the difference between similar looking letters.

The letter confusion worksheets that are included are:

  • 5 x circle the correct letter worksheets (b and d, p and q, n and m, i and j, f and t)
  • 5 x confusing letters colouring worksheets (b and d, p and q, n and m, i and j, f and t)

Through these fun and engaging worksheets, children will practice recognizing, tracing, and writing these letters, reinforcing their understanding and helping them avoid common mistakes.

Tackling Commonly Confused Letters

As teachers, we know that children often get confused by letters that look or sound similar. These worksheets help students focus on helping students confidently identify and differentiate between the most commonly confused letters:

  • b and d: Similar shapes but flipped orientations can cause confusion.
  • p and q: Like b and d, these letters mirror each other.
  • m and n: These can sound alike and often get mixed up, especially in early reading stages.
  • g and q: Similar rounded forms make these tricky.
  • f and t: Subtle differences in shape can lead to confusion.
