In this interactive activity, students will explore their knowledge of the main vowel team spelling combinations that produce the long e sound (ee, ey, and ea). Some of the interactive activities included are:

The long /e/ vowel sound is a specific pronunciation of the letter “e” that is prolonged or stretched out in spoken language. Various vowel teams can represent the long “e” sound in English. A vowel team is a combination of two or more vowels that work together to produce a specific sound. 

Here are some common vowel teams that represent the long “e” sound:

• ee as in bee
• ey as in money
• ea as in team
