Who Was Louise Mack?
Louise Mack was an Australian journalist, travel writer, and novelist. She was one of the first Australian women to make a career in journalism and one of the most successful writers of her time.
Mack was born in Hobart, Tasmania, and spent most of her childhood in Sydney. She began her career in journalism in the 1890s, working for various newspapers and magazines. She then went on to travel extensively, often writing about her experiences in her articles and books.
Mack’s most famous book is “The Australians in Egypt,” a memoir of her experiences as a war correspondent during World War I. She was one of the few female correspondents to cover the war, and her writing was praised for its vivid descriptions of life on the front lines.
