Write a Magical Story During Book Week 2024

Are you looking to get your younger students writing magical stories during Book Week 2024? Look no further than Teach Starter’s “Write a Magical Story” Craft and Writing Template!

To create this resource, students will choose either the magic potion bottle template or the spellbook template. Each template has a circular space on the front for the student to attach the pages of their magical story. Students will:

  1. Colour or decorate either the potion bottle template or the spellbook template.
  2. Colour the title circle template and add their name.
  3. Write a magical story using the circle page templates.
  4. Cut out the circle pages and attach them, in order, to the front of the potion bottle template or the spellbook template.

The resource download includes everything you’ll need to complete this magical story craftivity with your class of eager learners:

  1. Title page containing instructions and a visual representation of the craftivity
  2. Potion bottle template
  3. Spellbook template
  4. Story writing templates

This resource downloads as either an easy-print PDF or an editable Google Slides file.

Share Magical Stories with the School Community

Once your students have completed their magical story craft, why not have them share their creations with their peers and the wider school community? Here are some suggestions from our teacher team to get you started:

  1. Classroom Read-Alouds – Schedule regular times during Book Week for students to read their stories aloud to their classmates. This can be done during morning meetings, storytime sessions or special author’s chair events.
  2. Story Wall or Bulletin Board – Dedicate a wall or bulletin board in the classroom or hallway to display the students’ magical stories. Decorate it to make it an inviting space where others can stop by to read and enjoy the students’ work.
  3. Cross-Class Story Exchange – Partner with another class to exchange stories written by the students. Students can pair up with a student in a buddy class and share their work, fostering a sense of community and emphasising the importance of reading and writing within the school.
