Create an easily differentiated measurement maths centre with a printable Measuring Length Maths Centre.
We Make Differentiation in Maths Easy!
Finding differentiated materials for maths instruction can be challenging. Creating resources that cater to varying levels of student ability demands more time and effort than you can afford. With the pressures of curriculum demands and daily teaching responsibilities, we know teachers are overwhelmed by the task of designing or sourcing these specialised materials. This is where we come in. Our broad range of high-quality, teacher-made resources intended for use with different learning levels will save time planning and implementing differentiated instruction.
Easily Differentiated Measurement Maths Centre
This printable resource is designed to help students practise measuring with both formal and informal units. These cards are perfect for enhancing mathematical skills in a fun and interactive way and are easily adapted to cater to various learning styles.
This resource download includes a set of 24 Measurement Task Cards and a recording sheet in which students can use informal and formal measurement units to practise measuring length. Some ways you can adapt this resource are:
- Informal Units: Have students focus on using everyday objects as units of measurement. Students can use items such as paper clips, blocks, or counters to measure objects.
- Formal Units: Provide students with formal measuring tools, such as rulers, tape measures, etc., to measure objects.
- Estimate and Measure: Have students estimate the length of each object shown, then measure the exact length using formal or informal units.
- Measure and Compare Length: Bundle the cards into sets of two. Have students measure the length of each object, then compare the two cards using <, >, or =.
- Measure and Convert Length: Have students measure length using inches or centimetres and convert them to a different unit.
We recommend getting your students up and moving while learning by posting these cards around the classroom and having students engage with them via a Gallery Walk activity or as a fun game of SCOOT!
