More Engaging Hands-On Year 3 Measurement Activities
If you are looking for more hands-on ways to teach your students about measuring length, we’ve asked our teaching team for some of their favourite mass activities, and we’ve included them here for you:
- Length Mystery Box Activity – Place various objects inside boxes or brown paper bags. Your students aren’t allowed to see what is inside. They must draw out an object and then use a measurement tool to measure the length of each object inside.
- Length Scavenger Hunt – Students need to search for items around the classroom that fit into a specific length range. For example, less than 12 centimetres and exactly 80 millimetres. After collecting a few objects, students measure and record the length of each object they found
