The Ultimate Multiplying with Decimals Game!

Are you looking for a whole-class game to help your students strengthen their decimal multiplication skills? Teach Starter has put together a bingo game to help your students practise multiplying two decimals while also having some competitive fun!

To play, give each student a bingo board. The teacher or one student calls out the equation from the calling cards. This card can also be placed underneath a document camera for students to see. Students must solve the problem and find the matching answer on their game board. The first student to cover five spaces horizontally, vertically or diagonally, wins!

This multiplying with decimals bingo game downloads as a full-colour PDF or editable Google Slides file. It contains:

  • Instruction page
  • 26 x game boards
  • 24 x calling cards
  • Answers

Through playing this whole-class maths game, students will show they can multiply two numbers up to and including the hundredths place using the standard algorithm.

Multiple Uses for This Maths Game for Multiplying Decimals

While this bingo game has been created as a whole-class activity, it has many versatile uses in your maths classroom. Here are some ideas you might like to consider:

  1. Bell Ringer Activity – Project one of the calling cards for your students to see as soon as they enter the classroom. On a piece of paper or in their workbooks, have students multiply the two decimals that are shown. Collect the papers or discuss the answers as a group.
  2. Lesson Warm-Up – Pull a random assortment of calling cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Have students write their answers on a sticky note along with their names for an easy formative assessment.
  3. Pair or Group Play – Why not allow students to play the bingo game in pairs or groups? More collaboration means more learning, more healthy competition and more enjoyment for everyone!
