Looking for Ideas to Add to Your First Week of School Lessons Plans?

We get it. Coming up with activities to start your year off right can be a bit tricky. Your students are still learning the routines and procedures of your classroom, you are still getting to know all of your students and may already start to assess their academic abilities. If you are looking for a back-to-school activity to do with your year 2 students, you have come to the right place!

Teach Starter has created a printable mini-book for your students to reflect upon their first week of school. This book comes with 7 printable pages for students to write and draw. Prompts include those such as:

  • Draw a picture of the best activity this week.
  • What is your favourite subject and why?
  • What was your favourite part of recess?

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your back-to-school lessons.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Students who struggle can use the suggestion boxes to complete the pages. These students may also need to answer the prompts by drawing and not writing.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If there are students who need an additional challenge, encourage them to provide answers beyond the suggestion boxes.
