These magazine articles with matching comprehension questions are a great way to assess how your students are going with their comprehension while reading. These beautifully illustrated articles cover a range of text types and have been carefully written in-house by one of our talented teachers. The kid-friendly topics of the magazine articles include:

- An interview transcript between a report and a NASA scientist
- A story called The Great Discovery – all about Professor Paleo and his dinosaur fossil discovery
- An informative piece of writing about the Egyptian pyramids
Along with these texts is a page of comprehension questions in the form of a multiple-choice response.
NAPLAN Reading Comprehension – Year 5
These curriculum-aligned texts and comprehension questions are also a great way to prepare for NAPLAN with your Year 5 students. As there are five different articles in this resource, you may like to take the approach of a whole class activity, to begin with, and slowly let the students become more independent with the reading and answering of the questions.
Spending time explicitly talking about the text and the questions is a fantastic way to prepare students for the reading comprehension aspect of NAPLAN.
