Our Interactive Number Grid Activity Meets Multiple Math Standards
This number grid interactive activity is a dynamic and engaging way for students to practise number relationships. Available in both Google Slides and PowerPoint, the activity presents a number in the centre of the slide, and students must fill in the corners with the correct numbers based on the directions— ‘1 more,’ ‘1 less,’ ‘10 more’ and ‘10 less.’ Whether students are working individually, in small groups or as a class, they can check their answers by flipping to the next slide to see the correct solutions. This versatile activity works well with student whiteboards, making it a great tool for reinforcing maths skills while meeting multiple standards.
Included in this number grid activity:
- Instructional suggestions
- Student directions
- 30 question slides
- 30 answer slides
- One editable slide
Using This ‘Ten More and Ten Less’ Resource
There are many ways to use this ‘ten more and ten less’ resource in your classroom. Here are some of our favourites:
- Whole Group – Display each problem on your interactive whiteboard. Have students use individual whiteboards divided into four sections to write down their answers and then display the answer. (As an alternative to whiteboards, print and laminate a copy of the last blank slide for each student.)
- Individual Practice -Assign this number grid interactive activity in Google Classroom or supply students with the link. Instruct them to put the presentation in ‘slideshow’ mode and write answers on their whiteboards, checking for correctness on the next slide.
- Maths Stations – Make this activity and whiteboards and markers available in a maths station. Students can then complete it individually, in partners or in small groups, checking their answers as they go.
